Green Gardens

left field rock 4 piece

Mist and rust surround my gate
I'm driven out by broken dinner plates
I've gone out into open space
Falling leaves I walk among, and forming cracks I fall between

Mist and rust surround your face
I'm driven out to look beyond the gate
I've gone out, your hiding place
I'm hiding from your stony face

Winding words shared at night
Knowing smiles catch the light
Forgotten words written down
Empty pages seem full somehow

Cobbled streets and towering walls
Spilled red wine, I watched you fall
A thousand glasses and countless days
I watched you become yourself again

3AM the birds, they sing, they sing
Open window mist rolls in, it rolls in
Wind blows through the hall, it blows through the hall
Angry voices pound, they pound the door
Old fears haunt me now without a spark
Helpless and submerged I'm in the dark
New fears grip and twist, and twist a friend
I fear that he'll lose his mind again

Night falls shadows grow tall
The sun sets and I feel so small
12 floors above ground
Gives the sense that I've grown somehow

Cobbled streets and towering walls
Spilled red wine, I watched you fall
A thousand glasses and countless days
I watched you become yourself again
